Home Sweet Home

We've been in New York for the last three weeks. 10 days on Long Island. 4 days in Boston. 10 days in Rochester. We had a fantastic time, but we're now happy to be home. Happy to have our routine back. And excited for Liam who just started his second year of preschool, or maybe it's considered pre-K at this point.

Liam went fishing with Pop Pop. They didn't catch anything, but Liam enjoyed playing with the bait.

Rekindling a relationship with Liam's babyhood friend.

The boys had a wonderful trip, and the weather was so great that we didn't have a chance to do any rainy day activities... next time.

Yesterday we went raspberry picking with some friends. Henry ate so much my white sweater was red on the back!
They were super sweet, even the under-ripe ones weren't tart.
Today Liam and I made our first pie together! It was delicious! I only had one slice (then I finished off Henry's slice!).
We've really been living up this summer. Lots of trips to the park, the beach, and the farmers market. And we've already reserved our second campsite. One more than last summer!
And Friday we're going to a water/amusement park. It's only supposed to go up to 70 degrees so I don't know how much I'll want to go on water rides, but knowing my boys they'll swim until they're purple!

I'm out of practice.

Just a quick update.

We have just started renovating our downstairs office. We have popcorn ceilings that we want to remove and we thought we'd do it ourselves but it contain asbestos and we read how you can remove it yourself but it's just to complicated and hazardous that we've decided to hire someone to do it, but who? So that is at a stand still.

Liam is taking swimming lessons twice a week and loving it. He swallows so much water because he is smiling the whole time! What he lacks in ability he makes up for in enthusiasm. He was the only one brave enough in his class to try a head first dive off the diving board!

Henry attempts to mimic everything that Liam says. Tonight at dinner Gordon (the cat) was attempting a jail break and Liam ran over to him and meowed really loud to get him to run back inside, and Henry loved that and he kept meowing like Liam did.

Henry says "none" for "done".

I've still been sewing a lot. I'm making gifts for our families for when we visit. And I'm making pants for Henry out of old t-shirts.

So that's where we are... oh and Kurt, he's got so many projects in motion I've lost count!

Water Slide

Who needs to go to a water park to enjoy a fantastic ride down a water slide. All you need is a slide, a tarp, a hose, and an adventurous little boy!

Liam had a fantastic time on the slide. He flew really fast. If our tarp was longer he would've gone even further.

Recipe For A Great Birthday!

Liam turned 4 today! We talked to him about his birthday for days in advance to get an idea of what he thought he would enjoy doing on his birthday. Here's what we came up with...

When he woke up there was a mylar balloon in his room, so he would know that this was going to be a special day. (He didn't play with it until we told him it was morning and it was his birthday.)
Then I made him french toast with blackberry syrup for breakfast.
Then he got dressed and rode the bus with daddy to work where Henry and I met them in the car. (We just happened to be next to them at a red light so I signed the Happy Birthday song to him!)
We went to a cafe for a donut and said goodbye to daddy.
From there we started our playground crawl. We were going to go to as many playgrounds in one day as we could. We started at a neighborhood playground that we usually pass on the way home from preschool but have never tried.
From there we went back home to put Henry down for a nap and to watch an episode of Scooby Doo. (Liam's new obsession.)
As Henry was sleeping I packed a picnic lunch for our next playground.
We met Daddy at "Spider Park" on his lunch hour where we tried out Liam's new sling shot plane that he got from his grandparents.
We left Daddy again and headed to "Plane Park". More picnicking was done and lots of imaginary play. We had such a great time there we decided not to move on to another playground.
We then headed home for Henry's afternoon nap and made the whip cream for Liam's ice cream cake (above). By then it was time to meet Daddy for dinner at Liam's favorite pizza place where they have steps for the kids to sit on as they watch the pizza maker behind the glass throw pizzas high into the air.
Liam enjoyed his ice cream cake for dessert and we watched the second half of Pete's Dragon (a very long movie) and the cherry on top of the cake... Daddy and Liam are camping out in the backyard! Liam's eyes lit up when Kurt suggested it. Daisy (the dog) is out there too.

And now after a long day. I'm going to enjoy a good book in bed. Goodnight!

Kurt's parents came to visit last week and it was delightful having them over!

Kurt's parents came to visit and little did they know we planned for them to help us build a fort for the boys. They got right in there and we couldn't have managed to do it without them. They were a wonderful help.

We sent our guests to bed aching and tired every night. We can't wait for my parents to visit next week, we're hoping to renovate our bathroom!

Space Case

In mid February Kurt got me a sewing machine as an early birthday gift. I've been a busy little beaver sewing all sorts of things; napkins, a bib, a gnome hat, a needle case, fortune cookies, but this one is the one I'm most proud of.

One of Liam's favorite stories is about a UFO that comes down on Halloween and he is mistaken for a trick or treater with a really great costume. I just bought him the book for Easter, and to accompany the book I made this!

Kurt has this program that he can model a 3D object and then print out plans to assemble it with cardboard, and with some modifications, it works well with fabric too. I hope he likes it!

Our favorite cousin/neice is one today!
